Fremantle BID Company is located in the heart of Fremantle in Woodson’s Arcade on shop 13, 39 Cantonment Street. The Fremantle BID consists of Kim Low, Executive Manager and Chloe Coombe Administration and Project Coordinator. We currently have 3 board members these include Penny Valentine, Justin Rogan, Tim Milsom
Mission
The Mission of the Fremantle BID is to utilise our funding to make Fremantle a cleaner, safer, more appealing city and to undertake various improvement projects. The BID focuses on the 6 Precinct areas including City Central, Cappuccino strip, West End, Victoria Quay and the Fishing Boat Harbour. This incorporates Public spaces, Businesses, Malls and Arcades.
Company Overview
The Fremantle Business Improvement Company (BID) is a non for profit organisation established to administer the ‘’amenity improvement’’ differential rate collected from the local city centre businesses by the City of Fremantle.
This City Centre Business tax is utilised to improve the safety and amenity of Fremantle’s CBD and to assist with promotions, events and marketing.
The Fremantle BID is overseen by a volunteer board of volunteer directors elected by the City Centre businesses to represent them. Current Board members include Board Chair Penny Valentine (owner of Valentine’s Camera House), Justin Rogan (General Manager Clancy’s Fish Pub) and Tim Milsom (Building owner and CEO of the Fremantle Chamber of Commerce.
The Fremantle BID employs an Executive Manager, Kim Low and a Projects Coordinator, Chloe Coombe to administer the BID’s work.
BID PRIORITIES
The Fremantle BID’s mission is to work together with local businesses and other agencies for a creative and vibrant city. To achieve tis the BID works to a five year business plan with the following key priority areas:
-A united business voice
-High standards of safety and security
-Marketing, promotion and events
- A welcoming place
The Fremantle BID undertakes a range of projects to achieve these overarching objectives Current projects include:
BID Funding Grants: a funding scheme which is available for groups who run new events or projects within the City Centre which provide an economic benefit for local businesses.
Local Place planning: working street by street the BID undertakes audits in conjunction with local businesses and commercial property owners and then develops localised plans to address issues. This can mean improved lighting, security cameras, additional cleaning, new street furniture, artwork, events or simply promotion.
Safety in Fremantle: The BID is part of a large group of organisations working to improve safety and reduce antisocial behaviour in the CBD
Connecting local businesses: The Fremantle BID website fremantlebid.com has just launched to connect BID members and provide their customers with information and everything Fremantle including a business ad local events directory.
